We’re different from other social networking websites; not only are all our members looking to make new friends, they’re genuine.
That’s because we don’t give membership to everyone who applies to join Just Epals. In fact, our approval rate currently stands at less than 20%.
Here are our stats from yesterday:
- 26 member applications
- 4 approvals
- 13 rejections (no notification)
- 9 rejections (notified by email)
We reject applications without any notification email if we suspect the applicant is joining Just Epals to spam, scam or otherwise defraud our members. We don’t want to share the methods we use to identify these undesirable members, but they’re pretty robust and effective.
When we reject members who we feel are genuine, we’ll send them an email to let them know and we’ll invite them to reapply. Normally, we reject these applications due to incomplete profiles. As we say in the email notification we send to these applicants, it’s hard to make friends with people who don’t share any information about themselves.
Getting approved is actually pretty simple: be genuine, and fill out a real profile when you apply to join.
Being so strict when it comes to allowing new members to join slows our growth – but it makes our community stronger. We have friendlier, more genuine members than other social networks and we are yet to hear of a single spammer or scammer successfully joining Just Epals and contacting one of our members.
Although we have these safeguards in place, that doesn’t mean that a few bad apples won’t get through the net every now and again – so pay close attention to our safety advice, and use common sense when communicating with other members.
Together we can ensure that Just Epals continues to be a positive, welcoming and genuine online community well into the future.
