About Me
I'm an immigration lawyer, which is not as exciting as it sounds. I am on the wrong side of 50, just, and happily married. I am eagerly counting down to the day that I can stop working and start doing all the exciting things that I want to with my life, but meanwhile, I am reasonably intelligent, reasonably well read, reasonably articulate. All in all pretty reasonable, actually!
Who I'd Like to Meet
People with whom I can have stimulating and interesting conversations and spend convivial evenings. Potential friends, in fact. If this question refers to things like gender, age, looks - who cares?
Hobbies & Interests
History, particularly ancient Rome. Reading. Cooking. Travel. Crafty-type things. Walking. And is this a good place to mention my love affair with single malts?
Favourite Books
I read for entertainment and not education, so my reading tends to be light rather than worthy. Classical whodunits. Historical novels. The occasional foray into Georgette Heyer. Some modern novelists. And I absolutely loved Harry Potter.
Favourite TV Shows
I don't watch a lot, but... University Challenge, HIGNFY, Monty Python, Black Adder, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, The Mighty Boosh, and dramas.
Favourite Films
Classic films, generally, and war movies. Two recent films that I thought were outstanding are The Imitation Game and The Woman In Gold.
Favourite Music
I'm stuck in the 60s, I'm afraid, and I'm also a country music kind of girl. Thanks to my husband's influence, also some 70s Rock.
Favourite Quotes
Does anyone say it better than Scarlett O'Hara? "Tomorrow is another day"... the only thing that comes close to it for me is "Eat the elephant one bite at a time".
